Tear Strength Test

You know how it is: a favorite bag is not always treated carefully in the course of its life, often catching on corners and edges, and generally having to stand up to various “endurance tests”. To sum up, sometimes it really takes a beating. This is why it is so important that all materials we use are tested for stability and robustness. In the tear strength test, we determine how many Newtons of tensile force are needed to tear a fabric. We also take this opportunity to test tear propagation strength of the fabric
which means we find out how much energy is needed to continue to tear a fabric which has already started to tear. We primarily use high-quality ripstop material. This way we can be sure that all VAUDE Packs ‘n Bags have sufficient tear and tear propagation strength to meet the various demands placed on them.
