Shingle Construction

We use a shingle construction in conjunction with the synthetic fiber PrimaLoft® INFINITY. This is first cut into rectangular pieces of the correct length. Then these pieces are diagonally sewn between the inner and outer layers of the sleeping bag and attached to the top and bottom of the outer material. This creates shingles that overlap like on the roof of a house or the scales on a fish. This special construction ensures that the insulation layer is evenly distributed and creates optimal heat retention. The sleeping bag fill material can’t slide around in a shingle construction – a big advantage, because when fill moves around cold spots are created in the bag where there is little to no insulation material.

  • Minimizes cold spots
  • Optimizes insulation
