Mummy Bags

The most familiar type of sleeping bag today – a bit wider at the top and narrower at the feet. Mummy bags feature highly efficient heat retention; their contoured shape minimizes the amount of air that needs to be heated. And because they require less material than other types of bags, a mummy bag will weigh much less than a comparably warm rectangular bag. It can also be packed down smaller.

  • Best thermal retention (depending on type of fill used)

When to choose:

Mummy bags are ideal for cold regions and activities in which weight should be kept to a minimum.
