Down:

Down/feather mix

The designation 90/10 and 80/20 represent the ratio of down to normal feathers in a fill. VAUDE uses only the highest quality down fill for its down sleeping bags. All of our fills are tested for moisture resistance, loft and durability; only after passing this stringent quality testing are they accepted in the VAUDE sleeping bag program. Fill ratios refer to the percentage of goose down plumes to
support feathers in terms of overall fill weight (90/10 or 80/20).

Down: Loft

Loft = Fill Power

The loft describes, in short, the capacity of the down to store air. The rule of thumb here is: the higher the better. A type of quality barometer for down if you will. Loft is generally measured in “cuin” (cubic inches) and indicates the number of cubic inches one ounce of down will occupy. This is an important indicator because the larger this volume is, the more air the down can store and the greater its insulation is.

Synthetic Fibers:

The emergence of synthetic fibers verged on a revolution in the outdoor market. They are especially valued for their minimal water absorption and high resistance to abrasion and detergents.

The unique advantage is that they retain their outstanding insulative abilities even when damp or wet, and are therefore an ideal choice when heading out into areas in which condensation can become a problem.
